About the Artist

Rob Morrison came to glassblowing the way the best stories start — by accident. He moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1994 after studying biochemistry in Pennsylvania, and a chance encounter at the Oregon Country Fair with a marble maker led him to Wale Apparatus, a scientific supply company selling lampworking kits. He ordered a torch kit and Homer Hoyt's book, and made his first glass pipes in August of 1995.

He took an eight-year break, returning in 2008 to find the community and available knowledge had grown substantially. In 2010, a meeting with master flameworker Paul Stankard changed everything — Stankard challenged him to express an idea in glass. Rob spent the next seven months learning to sculpt, producing his first glass diorama of Prometheus Bound. That opened the door to formal study in 3D sculpture, figure drawing, and art history.

In 2012 he made his first muppet functionals. In 2017 he expanded into farm animals — original designs that come entirely from his own imagination. The colors, shapes, and stories are his alone to tell.
