About the Artist

Carsten Carlile is from Eugene, Oregon — the birthplace of the American glass pipe industry. Eugene is where Bob Snodgrass landed after touring with the Grateful Dead and started melting glass in ways nobody had seen before, creating the foundation for everything that came after. Carsten grew up in that world. Between 16 and 17 he was already slinging glass he sourced from a buddy. By 18, in 1995, he started taking formal lessons from artists who had studied directly under Snodgrass.

He went on to teach many of today's well-known glass blowers — including his brother Darby Holm. He has collaborated with some of the most respected names in the industry: Mike Luna, Eusheen, Coyle, Ryno, Birddogg, and others. He is a team member of the Molten Art Classic, responsible for landmark pieces like the Space Station, the Monster Truck, and the Sunken Pirate Ship. His glass is carried in 500+ stores across the United States and collected worldwide.
